Recruitment flyer for the study

Are you non-binary, genderqueer, agender or outside the gender binary in any way?

Have you ever experienced controlling behaviour or abuse from a family member or intimate partner?

Our research team at UNSW Sydney is interested in talking to you.

  • Interviews can be held virtually on Zoom or in person at the UNSW Kensington campus and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, and you will have an option to take part in either one or two co-creation workshops afterwards, if you choose to.

  • You will receive a $70 gift voucher when you participate in an interview, and if you choose to join a workshop, you will receive a $100 gift voucher for each workshop you participate in.

Services available to support people impacted by domestic and family violence in Australia are not always available to people of non-binary genders. My PhD research aims to understand more about non-binary people’s experiences of abuse and what supports they need from services.

You are eligible to participate in the study if you:

  • Identify with any gender other than the binary genders of ‘man’ or ‘woman’, including people who identify as non-binary, genderqueer, bigender, agender and/or genderfluid

  • Are currently living in Australia

  • Are aged 18 or older

  • Have experienced controlling behaviour or abuse from a family member or intimate partner. “Family” includes chosen family and family of origin.

If you are interested in taking part, please read the Participant Information Sheet and Consent Form and email Shannon to learn more and arrange an interview time.
